IES Jacarandá is located in a small town near Seville, called Brenes, which has a population of about 13.000 inhabitants. Our school is the only public education provider from Secondary Education upwards, this includes Secondary Education, Upper Secondary Education, Vocational Training Studies (Basic, Middle-level and Higher-level ) and Adult Education. The school also provides other kind of programmes to help students with especial needs such as: bilingualism, compensatory education, extracurricular activities, etc, so the school is open from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.. We also organice short-term activities all through out the year like: Book Fair, Advicing professional week, Science Fair, Language Week, etc. All these activities try to foster and disseminate the basic elements of our curriculum: development of key competencies, the value of work, profesional advise, scientific way of thinking, the value of languages, etc. At the same time, they reinforce attitudes of acceptance and recognition of these values. We have been taking part in European projects for over eight years, at all levels, both in the previous Lifelong Learning Programme: Comenius, Leonardo and Grundvig, as well as KA1 and KA2 in Erasmus Plus at present. The group of students enrolled in Adult Education has a very diverse profile but a common goal: to get the Basic Certificate of Secondary Education, so we are talking about formal education. All the subjects have been comprised into three different fields: Scientific-Technological, Languages (Spanish and English) and Social Studies.
